1 day to go to the Sharing Gathering – May 2025

1 day to the Sharing Gathering on Saturday, May 10th

Tomorrow is the CHOA Sharing Gathering, on Saturday, May 10th, starting at 9:15am.  Join us!!

Our new mayor – Mayor Sharon Kwan – will be joining us.  We mentioned the sub-theme of newness.  Well, she is the first Asian female mayor of Arcadia.  Wow!  You can’t get any more “new” than that!

Mayor Kwan has given her time to CHOA already this year.  In the last 5 months, she has come to engage with the CHOA team and supporters 3 times.  She is willing to discuss efforts to reduce homelessness, and build affordable housing.  That’s encouraging for us, right?

We cannot just let our elected officials take care of these difficult matters alone.  We have to show them support for housing efforts—that there are numerous folks from the faith community that are for housing efforts.  We need to encourage our City Council.  It gives them confidence, knowing there is support from the community.  Come to this gathering to show Mayor Kwan and Mayor Pro Tem Eileen Wang that there is support for more housing efforts.  Both of them need to see us.

Here is the line-up of speakers and topics for our gathering:

  • Mayor Sharon Kwan
  • Mayor Pro Tem Eileen Wang
  • Matthew Brennan of L.A. CADA, on how they connect with the unhoused
  • The new Inclusionary Housing Ordinance
  • The Elara Project

Use the below link to register.  The flier is further below.  If you make a last minute decision to come, you do not need to register…just come!!
