Meet the CHOA Team

The CHOA team members are all volunteers, doing their part either on short-term efforts, the Housing Element, visiting churches, help CHOA share information, and/or help the team run smoothly.

Mike Veerman
Team Lead
Mike has lived in Arcadia for 22 years with his wife Ruth and 3 kids (now all adults). Although his church is Knox Presbyterian (PC-USA) in Pasadena, he has been engaged in housing matters in Arcadia since May 2021. Mike is a programmer for Emanate Health, that runs 3 hospitals in East San Gabriel Valley. Mike has been engaged in the community for years, as an Intermediate Referee for AYSO Region 2, as well as a Scoutmaster/Asst. Scoutmaster for 7+ years with a small, homeschooling Boy Scout Troop in Monrovia (Troop 135).
 
Wendy McGrail
Homeless Advocate
Wendy is a 38-year resident of South Arcadia where she and her husband raised 2 children, now adults and no longer at home. Wendy is very involved in ministry work within her faith community at St. Luke Catholic Church in Temple City, especially with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. She is also active with the Temple City Homeless Coalition and the SGV Safe Parking Committee.
Sharon Chun Wetterau, LCSW
Social Worker
Sharon has lived in Arcadia for 13 years with her husband, Larry, and their two children, one in college and the other a student at Arcadia High School. She’s been actively involved in Evergreen Baptist Church’s partnership with Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley, a model program where churches host unhoused families one week at a time. Sharon is a licensed clinical social worker for Blue Shield of CA, providing care coordination with low-income older adults.
Raymond Cu
Homeless Advocate
Raymond was born and raised in Arcadia. After graduating from Arcadia High School, he attended the University of Southern California where he was involved with several community efforts. He wanted to continue making an impact within his community and ultimately decided to dedicate his time to CHOA. Raymond is also an active member within the American Red Cross and the SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition. Outside of volunteering, Raymond works as a Risk Engineer by resolving technical problems and preventing losses.
